Texan Singer-Songwriters Braving the Cold & Heading to Alberta

Toques For Texans- The Only Two Texans Who Need Hats will be the theme of the Sam Baker and Gurf Morlix show on February 20, 2010. People attending the concert are asked to bring a donation of new or old (but clean) winter gear. Winter gear can consist of hats, toques, scarves, wool socks and gloves. All donations will go to The Clothesline, a locally owned clothing store located in Shaker’s Mall.

Opening for Sam and Gurf will be Cochrane’s own Lucas Chaisson. At the age of 15, Lucas’ songs can be compared to the likes of John Mayer, Martin Sexton and Ron Sexsmith. His taste in music has been influenced by a range of artists such as Neil Young to Andre Boccelli.

Sam Baker has made a career of writing and singing his own songs. With his first debuted album, Mercy, in 2004, and his second album, Pretty World, in 2007. Gurf Morlix was best known for his 11-year partnership with Lucinda Williams. He has had a great opportunity to work along with Canadian musicians Romi Mayes and Scott Nolan. Together, Sam Baker and Gurf Morlix bring you a great combination of musical talent.
